OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathy focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal disorders.

Osteopaths take a whole-person, holistic approach to care, taking into account not only your current symptoms but also your full medical history and factors such as lifestyle and environment.

Osteopaths use advanced hands-on techniques to draw on the body's innate ability to heal and the interrelated unity among its systems to ease pain or dysfunction. We seek the cause of your condition to ensure we do not simply mask the symptoms, but find the reason for their existence, thus aiding your recovery, enabling both short term improvements, preventing symptom recurrence, and meeting your long term health and wellness goals.

Each Osteopathic consultation is uniquely tailored to the individual patient, taking a collaborative, patient-centred approach.  As a manual therapist with many years of experience in massage techniques, my hands-on treatment style is a combination of muscle and fascial soft tissue work, gentle joint movements and stretching, and manipulation techniques designed to improve joint mobility, encourage musculoskeletal balance, and assist in regulating the nervous system. I combine cranial osteopathic techniques into some of my treatments, which involves a lightly holding the patient to interact with the body’s fluid dynamics and more subtle body energies.

As each individual has their own specific conditions and needs, each appointment will be unique to the patient, as will the lifestyle advice, self-care and exercises provided. Osteopathy is a patient-osteopath collaboration, and the best results are seen in patients that follow their home-care programme in combination with their Osteopathic appointments.  Each individual will respond in their own way to hands-on treatment, so I cannot predict the number of treatments you will need but we will discuss your progression and health improvements along your treatment journey.
